In November 2002 we launched Planet Philippines, a biweekly newsmagazine for overseas Filipinos. Tabloid in format, our newsmagazine features interesting profiles and scoops on entertainers and other celebrities, travelogues, articles about lifestyle, sports, culture, social issues, politics and the latest news from home. Moreover, it has lots of photos of celebrities and newsmakers. We are proud to say that our paper can stand head to head with the best ethnic publications anywhere in the world. Our experienced writers, photographers and artists produce the newsmagazine from Manila every two weeks and send the flat-ready material (meaning it is all done and ready to go to press) electronically to our publishing partners abroad. Our overseas publishers simply have to solicit advertisements and, if they wish, add local community news, print and distribute the newsmagazine.

Our set-up frees overseas publishers from the tedious editorial task so they can concentrate on the business aspect. Thus, one does not have to have any publishing or journalistic experience to publish the paper. He does not also have to hire an editorial staff, which brings down the overhead cost substantially, resulting in higher income for the overseas publishers.

The result of this innovative arrangement is a quality paper at a much lower cost. This becomes possible because the high cost of maintaining an editorial staff is shared by all our publishing partners. Instead of doing it alone and shouldering all the editorial cost, the overseas publishers are better off financially (and emotionally) in this kind of set-up
